Anita Louise (Gant) Boler was born on January 10, 1936, in Earlington Kentucky, to Rev. Dr. John R. Gant and lola V. Gant. Anita was an only child. She was a very caring and compassionate woman. If she could help you, she would. She would give you the blouse off of her back.
Anita was a loving wife to Alex for 42 years. Alex cared for her diligently as her health deteriorated over the years. Anita was an amazing mother to three children: Duane, Deborrah and Donna. She worked hard, sometimes two jobs, to provide for her children. Anita always provided a loving home. Family was her everything. She was an encourager to her grandchildren and so proud of their accomplishments. Her great-grandchildren and great-great grandson meant the World to her. Though she only birthed 3 children, many others called her Mom, Mommy and Granny. When her children were younger, many of the neighborhood kids could be found hanging out at her home. She never met a stranger; never.
Anita attended Indianapolis Public Schools and was a proud graduate of Crispus Attucks High School. She often shared many pleasant memories from her years there.
Anita worked for years at the Finance Center. She also worked for Veterans Administration until retiring in the mid 1980’s. She loved her job because it enabled her to help so many people. Many veterans would call in and request her by name because they knew she would fight hard for them to receive every possible benefit they were entitled to. She went above and beyond to assist them. Anita was promoted to EEO Counselor at Veterans Administration. She faced much opposition but did not let that deter her. After retirement she built and operated a salon at her home. She not only did her clients hair, she even fed them, always making sure they were comfortable.
Anita accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior early in life. She loved God and loved to study His Word. Sunday School was always a favorite of hers. As a preacher’s kid, she had that instilled in her at a young age and it continued throughout her life. She also loved singing in the choir. Earlier in life, she attended Greater Gethsemane MBC. In her adult life she was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church and a few other churches, one being Great Light Church, which she loved dearly, and attended until she was unable to drive any longer at which time she joined her husband at All Friends MBC. She was shown much love and great kindness at All Friends MBC.
Anita departed this life on June 2nd, 2017 at the age of 81, surrounded by family. She fought a good fight. It was a long, hard road but she stayed strong through it all setting the perfect example of strength, tenacity and perseverance to the very end. She will be missed and cherished by many. She was a phenomenal woman, indeed.
Preceded in death by both parents, Anita is survived by her husband, Deacon Alex Boler; Children; son, Rev. Duane Turner (Mary); daughter, Deborrah Turner and daughter, Rev. Donna Craig (Dennis). Four granddaughters; Dr. Tamika Turner, Deonna Craig, Whitney Smith, and D’Lisa Turner. I am so sorry for your loss. May the wonderful memories you share of your dear loved one, Anita, continue to provide a measure of comfort to you until God’s promise that “no resident will say, ‘I am sick'” (Isaiah 33:24) and “death and pain will be no more ” (Revelation 21:4) is fulfilled.

I am so sorry for your loss, however, I have found comfort from the Scriptures that gives us hope for our deceased loved ones. Revelation 21:3-4 says, “God. . . will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away. Write for these words are faithful and true”.
